We trace our origins back to 1972 when Tokyo Aoyama Law Office was established as an associated office of Baker & McKenzie in Japan. Baker & McKenzie Attorney at Foreign Law was established in 1996 following changes to the Lawyers Law at that time.
In May 2001, Tokyo Aoyama Law Office merged with the premiere capital markets and corporate finance firm of Aoki & Partners which was founded in 1897.
Following the amendment of the Japanese Lawyers' Law on 1 April 2005, Tokyo Aoyama Aoki Law Office and Baker & McKenzie Attorney at Foreign Law Office merged to operate as a single integrated partnership.
In April 2007, we were joined by a team of prominent Japanese and foreign partners led by Fumio Koma, strategically strengthening our position as the leading integrated law firm in Japan, and enhancing our European practice through the creation of one of the largest teams of European lawyers in Japan.
As a member firm of Baker & McKenzie, the world's leading international law firm, Baker & McKenzie Tokyo Aoyama Aoki Koma is able to draw upon the expertise of 3,900 attorneys in 67 offices in 39 countries to provide high-quality solution-oriented legal services in the areas of cross-border and multinational M&A, Corporate Law, Major Projects, Project Finance, International Property, International Tax, and Litigation. |
